Rules for Stars Indoor Lacrosse
NO CLEATS ALLOWED ON BARN TURF: Only turf shoes and sneakers.
· Players may find running shoes uncomfortable after long play on turf.
· It will be chilly in the Barn. Players and parents remember to dress warmly.
· Keep your sticks warm. DO NOT STORE STICKS IN CAR OR GARAGE!
Game Play
· Games will consist of two 17 minute, running time, halves with a 2 minute break between halves. Time will begin at the scheduled game time whether players are ready or not!
· 7 players per team on the field at Middle School (6th-8th grade) and Young Guns (3rd-5th grade) levels. One must be a goalie, properly equipped (Goalie stick, chest pad, and throat guard).
· 6 players per team on the field at High School level. One must be a goalie, properly equipped (Goalie stick, chest pad, and throat guard).
· No Long poles, only short sticks and one goalie stick allowed.
· Games will be played with soft lacrosse balls. No hard Indoor or outdoor balls allowed in the Barn.
· Tie game result in a Braveheart.
· All players should play an equal amount. All substitutions “on the fly.”
NFHS Lacrosse rules will apply except:
All decisions of the referee and Field Marshall are final! Rules may be interpreted to mitigate hazardous and dangerous play. See note at bottom of page.
Checking:
o No take-out checks are permitted by any player. A take-out check is defined as any check in which the payer lowers his head or shoulder with the force and intent to put the other player on the ground. Player may make contact in an upright position within five yards of the ball.
o No body checking along the sideline or end line. Picks and screens are OK.
Shots and Sidelines:
o Balls bouncing off of screens and boards landing in the field of play are “live balls” and playable. Balls rolling out of bounds or landing out after bouncing off screen or normal boards normal possession rules apply.
o Wing Midfielders will be off the field between the restraining lines until the whistle begins play (There are no Wing Midfielders at high school level).
o Other players will remain behind the restraining lines until possession is called.
Faceoff/Draw:
o One faceoff at beginning of each half. After a goal, ball given to goalie; play resumes on referee’s whistle.
Offside:
o Teams must have 1 player in their defensive half of the field at all times.
Penalties:
o Running time for penalties beginning on referee’s whistle or when penalized player kneels in penalty area between benches whichever is later.
